Anne Arundel County Public Safety Implements Innovative eSOPH Background Investigation Software from Miller Mendel for Police, Sheriff, Fire, and Detention Departments

Annapolis, MD.    Anne Arundel County Public Safety departments recently joined the long list of public safety agencies around the country that have implemented Miller Mendel’s eSOPH, the #1 pre-employment background investigation software. eSOPH will be used by the county police department, the county sheriff’s office, the country fire department, and the county’s detention facilities department.

eSOPH, which stands for electronic Statement of Personal History, has been used by city, county and state police agencies to conduct over 50,000 pre-employment public safety background investigations. It is specifically designed for the public safety pre-employment background investigation process, with public safety agencies using the system estimating a time savings ranging from 30 percent to 60 percent per investigation, and a significant reduction in the use of costly administrative resources such as paper, ink, postage and filing space.

Anne Arundel County Public Safety expects to process approximately 1,200 pre-employment background investigations over a 12-month period using the time and resource saving eSOPH program. The eSOPH transition project was led by Assistant Personnel Director Jackie Atkinson.

eSOPH has created hiring efficiencies for public safety agencies across the United States, including California, Oregon, Nevada, Washington, Idaho, Utah, Colorado, Arizona, Missouri, Louisiana, Georgia, Washington, D.C., and Maryland.

Named for Lady Ann Arundell, wife of the first Lord Proprietor of the colony Province of Maryland, Anne Arundel County is part of the Baltimore metropolitan area and home to more than half a million people. The Anne Arundel County Sheriff’s office serves the citizens of Anne Arundel County by providing professional and uncompromising service through teamwork and a commitment to excellence.

The Anne Arundel Fire Department’s mission is “to stand ready as an all-hazards organization to assure the safety of our communities,” and responds to calls for service, fires, medical and other emergencies.

The Anne Arundel Department of Detention Facilities’ mission is to “confine pretrial detainees and convicted offenders in accredited, safe and secure facilities and administer programs that maintain and improve the health, education levels and work skills of convicted offenders in order to return them to the community in better condition than when they entered their terms of confinement.”
